Later on, the gentle pictures of Beatrix Potter portrayed the scrapes and scraps that lovable Peter and his siblings got into. Their innocent escapades caused us to cheer for them to exit the garden just ahead of Mr. McGregor, and to recognize the look of reproval on their mother's face.
And whose Saturday morning was complete without a dose of the hilarious pranks and capriciousness of Bugs Bunny? Did anyone else sometimes feel sorry for poor Elmer Fudd?
Then along came that zany Roger Rabbit, who single-handedly pulled out all the stops on hilarity. Thank goodness wife Jessica gave him an air of, shall we call it sophistication?
That whole rabbit persona must have gotten stuck in my head because as long as I can remember, I've had two pet names for my husband, Tom: Ace, and Honey Bunny. Kind of silly, right?
Now, all these bunny characters have morphed into Bobby and Bonnie Bunny, the main characters in my recently released book, Life with Bobby and Bonnie. I really hope you will either get a copy to enjoy with the children in your life or help us to provided copies to at-risk kids. One thing you'll notice is there are no pictures of Bobby and Bonnie. Oh, I can see them distinctly in my writer's brain, but sadly, I'm no artist. So, as you and yours read, imagine the lovable, non-threatening bunnies as you like, with maybe a few tinges of their predecessors.
