I thought I treasured my children and grandchildren more than all else. And then a place a little deeper was carved out with love for them.
Children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord.
Psalm 127: 3 CEV
Mercy House provides prenatal care for girls, and teaches them a trade. Restoration is fostered for each one, before, during, and after the birth of her child. I was surprised to learn that most of the girls choose to keep their children, even more surprised to learn some of the new mothers are as young as twelve.
Health care for mother and child is only the beginning. Once a girl has trade skills that can generate income, some families allow her and her child back into the fold.
I see my daughters, granddaughters, and students through different eyes, and hopefully with a more loving and accepting heart. I am challenged by women like Mary, like Bev and Joanne and Betsy and Anita who have found ways to turn empathy into action.
Have you also been challenged to find new way to turn empathy into action on behalf of the overlooked and ignored? Thankfully, the Lord isn't only in the business of challenging. I'm convinced, Dear Reader, He also loves equipping and connecting His children to bring each other up higher. What about you?
