Then God began to put new people in my life. Fran is definitely one of them.
We began as writing colleagues, but her generous and open spirit paved the way for us to become friends. Since beginning to discover we have much in common, now we talk about all kinds of things not just writing.
In a late summer visit, I asked Fran how she adjusted so well to retirement. I had found myself becoming maudlin, and didn't like it. But I wasn't sure how to rise above it.
We chatted about interests and time, and I felt a little better. But my new friend didn't leave it there.
A few weeks later I got the sweetest email from her checking on me. She had wisely known that the weeks right after the start of school might be tough.
God is so good. When our heads and hearts get too full of ourselves to "hear" from Him, He sends a Messenger. Fran's messenger email made all the difference. Knowing someone had not only listened to my heart, but responded in a timely, kind manner was what I needed: a holy moment life rope.
Dear Reader, have you received a word in due season? Have you offered one? Words are powerful, aren't they? I pray the perfect ones fall upon your heart when needed, and you respond to the call to send them to someone in your world, creating tangible holy moments for both of you to savor.
