We've been all about time and gas efficiency for years in our house. I plan errands around my monthly grocery shopping trips. And guess what my "pay-off" is? Yep, that greasy, dripping with cholesterol fast food.
I've been reading and hearing people talk about paying for the person behind them in the drive-thru line for quite a while. Last spring I thought I'd give it a try, (you know, to help alleviate food guilt) and God surprised me with reaffirming a recent holy moment lesson.
When we open ourselves up to giving or receiving blessings, we never know who the blessings will splash all over. I began to notice, more often than not, that the cashier at the window became a little nicer, smiled a little brighter when I paid for the person behind me.
I'm embarrassed to admit I almost spoiled the joy of the blessing. When the cashier asked if I'd like both receipts I automatically said yes. I'd know which one to put with tax deductible receipts when I got home. The Lord quickly taught me that using holy moment for tax purposes was definitely part of His plan.
Guess what, Dear Reader? God doesn't run out of blessings or holy moments! He can take our small offering of kindness for one, and bless two, or three, or more. We serve the God of five loaves and two fishes, Dear Reader!
Can we even begin to imagine how thrilled our Heavenly Father is when He multiplies what's in our hands? I pray you will have a glimpse this week of how the Lord sees what's in your hands.
