Crazier than Linus’s obsession with the Great Pumpkin, is the memory of a room full of adults gathered around my in-laws’s console tv watching this family favorite, without a kid in sight. Well, maybe just the kids inside of all of us.
The media industry sure does seem to capitalize on the holidays. Some tv stations begin running holiday movies and programming November 1, not to mention the radio stations begin the holiday music. Being so into the holidays, I was thrilled to discover a holiday music channel on our cable stations.
Even more interesting to me is how there are some movies and songs that just keep coming back year after year. In our house, the Christmas season just isn't complete unless we've seen "White Christmas," "Holiday Inn," and "Meet Me in St.Louis." One more thing I love about DVR, I can catch those jewels whenever they’re on, then watch them as many times as I want to. I think I might be able to do 31 days just on my favorite holiday movies and programs. File that in the mental database for next year’s blogging challenge.
Do you have special movies or shows that are must-sees during the holiday season? You know the ones I’m talking about, the ones where you know all the songs and most of the lines. Who do you especially enjoy watching them with?
