Welcome to the Holy Moments Experiment!
Wouldn't it be great if while we're seeking holy moments we had a cache of ideas of what to look for? What do you say, Dear Reader, are you up to turning your random acts of kindness into holy moments?
I was ready. I had every document I might need and a notepad in a soothing blue folder. I took a deep breath and walked in.
"Good afternoon, how can we help you with this afternoon?"
Was I in the right place?
The security guard obviously had made a conscious decision to share holy moments with the lost, the grieving, the worried, and the confused, including me. He greeted every person in a similar tone.
When there was a lull in the traffic he even walked over to an adolescent boy and started telling him jokes. Astonishment on the surrounding faces turned to delight.
The screen at the front of the room slowly ticked by minutes adding up to more than an hour, but I was determined to pass along the holy moment.
Just before my number was literally up, a woman hesitantly approached my chair. With an envelope and pen in hand, she shyly held them out to me.
"M'am? Would you mind writing on my envelope for me? I'll tell you what to write."
I about choked in trying to respond to her. Did she know how much she had just blessed me? Her simple request honored me with her gift of trust.
They say teachers have a certain look about us. Maybe. Or maybe Jesus chose to lovingly share a holy moment with this humble child of His.
Dear, Dear Reader, I pray that when you least expect it this week, Jesus will caress your face, hold your hand, whisper love to you through "the least of these". I'd love to hear your story.
