ENTERTAIN: I love my music! I enjoy lots of genres of music. But I'm really excited that I can saturate my head with what I love without what you love seeping through my euphoria. And I'll admit it, watching 8 year-old basketball games with a toddler are much more tolerable when Baby Sister is entertained by Elmo's World.
ENERGIZE: We have a birds-eye view out our front door in the evenings to see walkers pumping along and plugging in. Check out any running path in any park, and you'll see the same. If I'm doing housework or yardwork, I'm cranking up upbeat tunes to get and keeping me moving, too.
ESCAPE: Recently, I've discovered New Age music for escaping the stress of the day. Releasing tension allows more energy to flows in. Magellan and Maisie are totally into its soothing strains. Sometimes, escape comes in the form of plugging into one of my favorite musicals or schmaltzy movies. Whatever floats your boat.
EDUCATE: I keep a set of (Christian) teaching CDs in my car to listen to during my commute to and from work. Mary is further into the 21st century and enjoys her education on demand via podcasts. I love being able to "rewind" when I need to on parts that may be a little fuzzy.
How are you plugging in? Do you enjoy media to entertain, energize, escape or educate the most? Does the purpose dictate how you plug in? What's the reason you give your mother for plugging in?
