Dear Reader, you're invited to a celebration!
A celebration of our Savior's birth. In the days ahead, during Advent, we'll prepare our spirits to receive the greatest gift the world will ever see.
And sometimes, I plan an event that turns into "What Not to Do". Sound familiar?
Have you ever wondered what God could have possibly be thinking when He was planning the birth of His "darling of heaven"?
Think about it: transcontinental communication, centuries away; transcontinental transportation, iffy at best. Obviously, none of that deterred the Lord's event planning.
And the star they had seen in the east went on ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.
Matthew 2:9b CEV
“O Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are but a small Judean village, yet you will be the birthplace of my King who is alive from everlasting ages past!”
Micah 5: 2 TLB
Whether you're planning a wedding or a book launch, venue is a big deal. So, what was up with Bethlehem, and in a stable of all things?
We have good friends who live in a very small town in northwestern Missouri. Amazingly, astronomers from NASA predicted that the tiny town of a thousand would be one of the very best locations to view this year's eclipse. Tens of thousands flocked to the tiny town for the big event.
Has God got a sense of humor or what?
Maybe He likes to keep us off guard, or take us by surprise.
And what about the players? Surely the betrothal of Joseph, from the house and lineage of David, to Mary was no accident. The Master Event Planner had everything under control.
4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, 5 in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.
Luke 2:4-5 NASB
Dear Reader, has there been in moment in your life when things didn't seem to go as planned? Perhaps there was a time when the path ahead didn't seem clear.
People might make many plans, but what the Lord says is what will happen.
Proverbs 19:21 ERV
Why is it so hard to remember and trust the Master Planner?
Dear Reader, in the midst of Advent, my prayer for you is that the plans the Lord has for you will be clear. May the eyes and ears of your spirit be open and receptive to all He's prepared, just for you.
