The letter to Ephesus opens with encouragement. Even when I mess things up big time I can take comfort in knowing God chose me before the beginning of the world.
He knew me before I was. He knew me and still He chose me. Not because of anything I had or could possibly do, but because of His great grace.
3 Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One, who grants us every spiritual blessing in these heavenly realms where we live in the Anointed--not because of anything we have done, but because of what He has done for us. 4 God chose us to be in a relationship with Him even before He laid out plans for this world; He wanted us to live holy lives characterized by love, free from sin, and blameless before Him.
Ephesians 1:3-4 VOICE
And it just keeps getting better! God loved me so much before I ever was that He already had a plan to keep me holy and blameless in His sight.
Before, before, before. God chose and loved and blessed and made a plan to save me, before. Before I could praise and thank Him, God was already at work on my behalf.
Lord, I can't begin to imagine what great love you have for me, and yet I'm greedy for all it encompasses. I'm greedy for your grace. How can I praise and live for and serve enough to thank you?
