It can be like that with sin, can’t it? Something that starts out as attractive and harmless sinks its roots down into our spirits and tries to take over any godliness it finds.
12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
I Corinthians 10:13
God loves us so much that He gives us free will, and knowing how fragile we are, He even provides a “means of escape” when we make sinful choices. But wait, there’s more!
God loves us so much that He even gave His own Son as payment for our sins. Maybe others could, but I don’t think I could sacrifice my son for anyone. Maybe that’s part of what makes God, God.
