11 This was the first of all the miraculous signs Jesus did. He did it in the town of Cana in Galilee. By this he showed his divine greatness, and his followers believed in him. 12 Then Jesus went to the town of Capernaum. His mother and brothers and his followers went with him. They all stayed there a few days. John 2:11-12
The closer I read the gospel of John, Jesus' focus and intentionality become more evident. He seems to always be teaching his disciples, whether they realized it at the time or not.
Perhaps Discipleship 101 at Cana is telling us that we need to share the gospel in ways appropriate to the listener. Overkill rarely works. Share it. Affirm it. And listen for the Lord's next steps.
I like the way the Apostle Paul puts it: "I planted the seed and Apollos watered it. But God is the one who made the seed grow." 1 Corinthians 3:6 ERV.
How have you shared the gospel lately? What helps you to listen while you're on the road to your Capernaum? Maybe if I was as cheerful and trusting as these two on their road to Morocco, I'd do better at discerning the Lord's next steps for me.
I love hanging out at Mary, Crystal, and Holley's. There's something for everyone. Won't you join us there?
