What I love about April's journal is that she doesn't wait for or only post milestones. April looks for moments to be thankful for. April has inspired me to tune into the marvel in the moment.
Knowing bread is Tom's favorite food group, I told James his dad was going to think he'd died and and gone to heaven. A heavenly scent to soothe the senses and warm the heart. It made me think of some of the other little moments that have blessed me.
Probably most of us think our newborn children are beautiful, amazing. Me, too! But one afternoon when we were visiting Granddaddy on his farm in south Georgia, I glimpsed heaven's garden.
Mama was a very strong person. Life had never allowed her much time or resources for pampering. But as long as I can remember, until she died, I thought Mama had the absolute softest hair and skin. The touch still lingers, reminding me that personal strength doesn't preclude a soft heart.
