For the last several years, Bobby and Bonnie have been a real part of my life. They've been making up stories, helping me write their stories, etc. Last Christmas, Tom and I compiled the stories and gave them to a few special people in our lives. Since June, reading, editing, rereading Bobby and Bonnie's adventures were daily exchanges.
Alright, this may sound even goofier, but the twins have almost been like my kids or grandkids, except no diaper changing, middle of the night feedings, terrible twos, or other less than glorious parts of (grand)parenthood. When I finally, finally submitted my last galley, it was like that first ten minutes after leaving James at music camp: "Free at last, free at last...", quickly followed by, "Oh my gosh, what was I thinking? I want my baby back!"
After the voice in my head settled down, I realized my new teaching job was beginning, and there was plenty to keep me distracted until the books arrived. When that first box arrived, my heart and head nearly exploded! (Shhh! Don't tell Mary, but it was ALMOST as great as when Annalyn and Gracie were born.) There were my babies (Bunny babies, that is) on the cover and all over the pages of a real book!
Dear Friends, I so hope you have a God-sized dream. I hope there either has been, is now, or soon will be something in your life that is bigger than you are, something that taps into the very best and most creative parts of you, a gift you were uniquely blessed with to share with others.
What is it for you? What gets you excited beyond words; you can't wait to spend time on it? What's that "still, small voice" saying to you?
During the last few months, I've learned that each of us has a God-given purpose that no one else can fulfill. And, since each of us has a unique gift, I can't expect others to be as passionate about my dream as I am.
So, don't worry, I'm not expecting you to be as excited as I am about my Bunnys and me ministering to kids. I can't promise to become zealous about your dream, but I would love for you to share it with me (maybe a comment or message on Facebook).
Come closer and whisper in my ear. I can't wait to hear what you're up to.
Jeremiah 29:11 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
11 I say this because I know the plans that I have for you.” This message is from the Lord. “I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future."
