Gracie already blesses us with her exuberance and precociousness. Turning three in January seems to have taken her joie de vie to a whole new level.
You'd never know it, but Girlfriend was sick and running a fever just a couple of hours before dinner. With some nasty weather making its presence known, Grandpa and I weren't sure for a minute if we'd make it for her birthday. Apparently, Gracie assured her mom we'd make it, and we were bringing cake, pink cake.
Gracie did a terrific job with potty training last summer. When she started talking about going to preschool and being a "big girl" last fall, Mommy raised the ante a bit.Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen a child so excited about wearing pull-ups (and keeping them dry).
Gracie has been having such a terrific time with her "kitchen", for her birthday I went with gifts she could use with it. Don't you just love this little apron set! And because Allie teaches reading and my girls love books, we had to include a couple of book about food. But wait, there's more!
Due to a "series of unfortunate events", the food I'd ordered to complete the kitchen theme was delayed. The delay didn't dim Gracie's enthusiasm. I think she played with it in every room in the house, including the kitchen. (We won't go into how the way she laid it out on the table may show some of the same OCD tendencies of certain family members.)
After all the birthday thrills, I was frankly surprised at how excited Gracie was a couple weeks later with a small puzzle set we'd picked up on sale after Christmas. Watching Gracie's joy in her gifts, and in life itself, couldn't help but remind me of our Heavenly Father's gifts to us.
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
Psalm 139:12-14 NIV
6 We all have different gifts. Each gift came because of the grace God gave us. Whoever has the gift of prophecy should use that gift in a way that fits the kind of faith they have. 7 Whoever has the gift of serving should serve. Whoever has the gift of teaching should teach. 8 Whoever has the gift of comforting others should do that. Whoever has the gift of giving to help others should give generously. Whoever has the gift of leading should work hard at it. Whoever has the gift of showing kindness to others should do it gladly.
Romans 12:6-8 ERV
Sing to him; sing praises to him.
Tell about the amazing things he has done.
Psalm 105:2 ERV
